U12 HURLING FINAL
PALLASKENRY 0-4 NA PIARSAIGH ‘B’ 0-0.

Pallaskenry saw off Na Piarsaigh on U12 Hurling County Finals Day in the Gaelic Grounds last Saturday on a marathon day of matches. It was always going to be a tight match on a narrow pitch and that was the case. We started brightly having most of the possession early on and scored a free on the 45m line from Darren O’Connell who made no mistake in putting it over the bar. We were very unlucky not to score a goal when Evin Kelly hit a shot off the keeper that was deflected out for a ’65 which was converted to go two points up. We added two more points before half time making it four points to no score at half time.

Na Piarsaigh, with the wind behind them, put pressure on our backs but with Sean Holland, Martin Neville and Jason Barry not giving an inch we held them scoreless. It wasn’t easy to play out there with the pitch so tight and the length of the game cut also. Well done to all the players who did themselves proud and their parents for turning up in great numbers to support them. Thanks to the coaches who did great work all year with training and matches week in week out.

Team: Eoin Holland, Martin Neville, Sean Holland, Mikey Nash, Jamie Fitz, Jason Barry, Lorcin O’Leary, Darren O’Connell, Dylan Corrigan, Dylan Finan, Alan Ryan, Odhran Cuddihy, Sam Ross, Christopher Callaghan, Evin Kelly, Cameron Fu-Lynch, Liam O’Sullivan, Kieran Bourke, Jack Mullane, Sean Barry,Darragh O’Brien.

This Sunday we have the U12 Football Final also in the Gaelic Grounds.

Sept 28th

Pallaskenry 4-2, Templeglantine 2-10

U 14's wrapped up their hurling for the year with probably one of their best performances going down narrowly to T'glantine by 2 points. Short a number of players the 15 that took to the field gave 110% and were unlucky to loose to a late late goal. Tough free flowing hurling from both sides gave for a very exciting encounter in front of a large crowd. Those to star for Pallaskenry... Ross Mann, Dave Clarke, Darren O'Connell & Richard Downes.

Team: E Sheehan, J Fitzgerald, D Holland, D Clarke, R Downes, H Moloney, R Mann, P Larkin, G Maher, D O'Connell, R Kelly, C Leahy, E Maher, T Neville, C Healy.

Thank you all the coaches that helped during the year.... Noel Leahy, Jim Holland, Tom O'Connell, Vincent Fitzgerald.

Thank you to all those parents that helped in transport during the year and also to all the supporters.

Sept 21st

U12 Football
Pallaskenry 4-8 Hospital/Herbertstown 2-5.

Pallaskenry finished their league with a good win over hospital herbertstown even though they got of to a bad start they were behind 1-3 to no score after eight mins when Darren O'Connell scoredour first goal and then converted a point from a free. But it was hospital that finshed the first half the strongest leading by 4 points. The second half was dominated by Pallaskenry with Evin Kelly getting 2 quick goals and Alan Ryan scoring a goal fromlong range. By this stage hospital were rattled as we were winning the ball all over the field and Lorcan O'Leary kicked over 2 nice points and Alan followed on with another point. Darren finished off with 3 more points as hospital only managed 1 point in the second half.
Team: evin kelly2--0 , cameron fu lynch, sean holland, mikey nash, kieran bourke, martin neville, darren o connell 1--5, alan ryan 1--1, dylan finan, dylan corrigan, lorcan o learyo--2, patrick lynch, odhran cuddihy, sam ross, liam o sullivan.

U12 HURLING
PALLASKENRY 2-6 BALLINACURRA GAELS 2-3.

This was one of the hardest games of the year even though we won out in the end with Ballinacurra providing a verytough & physical challenge with the result in doubt right up to the final whistle. We started brightly putting over two unanswered points from midfielder Darren O’Connell. Ballinacurra scored a goal to go up by one point but we did not sit back. Christopher Callaghan kicked a ball over the bar to tie the game just before half time, then Evin Kelly got the goal we needed to put us 1-3 to 1-0 up at half time.

In the second half we were against the wind and Ballinacurra up their game and scored 1-2 to goahead. In the last ten minutes every ball was contested vigorously with some hard pulling but it was Pallas who finished the stronger. Darren O’Connell put over two points from frees, Evin Kelly kicked over a nice point before Christopher Callaghan had agoal disallowed. Dylan Corrigan finally got the goal we deserved to put Pallas ahead as Ballinacurra added one more point but it was too late to deny the home side victory. Pallas had won by three points and well done to all involved as we had some outstanding hurling from all our players.

AUGUST 31ST

U12 HURLING
PALLASKENRY 2-5 OLD CHRISTIANS 1-2.

We played Old Christians last Friday evening in Pallaskenry in the County U12 Hurling and in a tough encounter we came out on top but did not have it all our own way. Dylan Corrigan played well at centre field and put over two points from play and our defence did well to keep Old Christians scoreless in the first half especially Jason Barry, Sean Holland & Lorcin O’Leary. Darren O’Connell tagged over three points and scored a goal before half time leaving the score at 1-5 to 0-0.

In the second half we changed the team around and every player impressed when given the chance. Lorcin O’Leary moved out the field from goals and scored a goal from long range, Sam Ross was unlucky when an excellent effort on goal was cleared off the line and Old Christians came more into the game in the second half. They scored 1-2 in the closing quarter and were improving all along but we had good performances from Mikey Nash, Martin Neville, Lorcin O’Leary, Sean Holland, Jamie Fitz & Alan Ryan to ensure we won the match.

Team: Lorcin O’Leary (1-0), Mikey Nash, Martin Neville, Sean Holland, Jamie Fitz, Alan Ryan, Jason Barry, Cameron Fu-Lynch, Darren O’Connell (1-3), Dylan Corrigan (0-2), Evin Kelly, Sam Ross, Chris Callaghan, Dylan finan, Kieran Bourke. Subs: Darragh O’Brien for Darren O’Connell, Liam O’Sullivan for Dylan Corrigan, Jack Heavnor-Cronin for Alan Ryan.

The underage coaches will be sitting down next week to plan out our U8 & U12 Parish Leagues which will take place in the coming month. JULY 27TH

U12 HURLING
PALLASKENRY 3-7 MUNGRET 1-1.

This was the last game before the three week summer break and Pallaskenry made sure they were not going to lose it. With just a bare team because of players gone on holidays Pallaskenry played some great hurling. Odhran Cuddihy got our first point followed by a well taken point by Jason Barry. Our backs and Eoin Holland our goalie did very well to keep Mungret out with some good defensive play and some great saves. We had further points from Dylan Corrigan & Darren O’Connell and just before half time Evin Kelly scored a goal to put us 1-4 to 0-0 ahead at the break.

In the second half Mungret attacked more and came at us scoring 1-1 without reply. We got a few more points from Dylan Corrigan, Darren O’Connell & Christopher O’Callaghan. Sean Holland had an outstanding game at full back along with Alan Ryan & Dylan Finan doing very well to keep Mungret at bay. As the half progressed we regained control scoring two goals to seal the victory one from Christopher O’Callaghan and one from the injured Jason Barry. Well done to all the players for putting in a big effort and to our young guns Jack Holland, Darragh O’Brien & Sean Barry who are still U10 and U9.
