U16 Hurlers keep up good start

U16 ACHL Div 2A Round 2

Killulta 5-12 Claughaun 0-9.

Claughaun were visitors to Kildimo on Monday evening last for round 2 of the All County League. The match was underway exactly at the 7pm scheduled time and Killulta were out of the traps the fastest, with Jack O'Keeffe grabbing a goal in the first minute, followed in the next few minutes by two Martin Nunan points. Claughaun then got on the scoresheet with a point, but that was followed immediately with another point from Jack. Claughaun added afurther 2 points before Paul Larkin scored a brace of well taken goals. A point then followed for Claughaun in the 18th minute before Tony McCarthy and Darragh Walsh got on the scoresheet with a point and a goal respectively. Martin Nunan then added another point which was our final score of the half. Claughaun were not finished however and added three points - two from frees, as Killulta committed some careless fouls within scoring range. Score at halftime was 4-5 to 7 points.

Darragh Walsh was firston the scoreboard with a point early in the second half. This was followed by 2 points for Claughaun - again both of them from frees. Claughaun had a number of chances during the remainder of the half but all were narrowly wide of the posts. Killulta however were now playing very well and a goal from Craig Mills, a point from Eoin Cuddihy and further points from in-form scorers Jack O'Keeffe and Darragh Walsh led to a comfortable win on the night. Others that deserve special mention on the night were Kevin O'Connell, Ciarán O'Brien and Evan McCarthy whose defensive displays stood out.
