Under-12 Hurlers Lose Narrowly

Pallaskenry 1-6 St. Patrick's 3-1

Our Under-12 hurlers took to the field for their first game of the season on Saturday 24th April. They got off to a sluggish start allowing St. Patrick's to open the scoring with a fortuitous goal from a dipping free. St. Patrick's followed up with a point from another free. Dylan Finan opened the Pallas account with a well-taken point. This was followed by a pointed free from Dylan Corrigan. Up front, the forwards were lively with Evin Kelly scoring a football-stylegoal, having lost his hurl. Pallaskenry were in front with a score of 1-2 to 1-1 and seemingly in control. Lorcan O'Leary and Dylan Corrigan, both of whom
played well, tacked on a point each from frees before half time.

In the 2nd half, Sean Barry was moved up into the forwards with Darragh O'Brien taking up duties between the goalposts. Sean wasquick off the mark with two beautifully taken points from play. At this stage, it certainly looked like Pallas's day with a 5-point lead. As the game went on, St. Patrick's came more into it and scored two goals to put them into the lead. All the St. Patrick's good play centred around a remarkably skilful little lad known as 'Figo'. Pallas applied pressure on the St. Pat's goal for the rest of the game, hitting numerous wides and having 3 almost certain goals saved but, try as they might, the Pallas boyscould not score. At one stage, Evin kelly had the ball in the back of the net but it was disallowed as a square ball. In the end, it was a frustrating evening for Pallaskenry. We felt they had left the game behind them. The boys will certainly learn fromthis game and, if they improve their finishing, they should do well in their upcoming fixtures.
