U14 HURLING C'SHIP
PALLASKENRY 2-07 CLAUGHAUN 0-6

Our U14 Hurlers started their Championship on Wednesday against Claughan. Having already been beaten in the league by 6 points by them we were determined to ensure we did better this time. Right from the first whistle it was evident that the players were up for this game, not giving an inch and first out to every ball. Claughan were strong and physical right down the centre of their team, but with the likes of Dave Clarke, James Fitz, Sean Holland, Jason Barry & Ross Mann we were well able to compete with them.
Two early points from play from Ross settled us. Claughan kept responding and scored two themselves. A long ball in by Jason was doubled on by Cristopher O'Callaghan to the net to give us a 3 point lead. Claughan scored a further point to keep in touch, however 2 late frees from Darren O'Connell left us 1-4 to 0-3 ahead at half time.

Second half started with good strong hurling by both sides keeping the large crowd entertained. Darren scored 2 more frees to give us a comfortable lead. Jason, Sean & Ross were winning great ball in midfield and driving us forward. Claughan came back into the game with 2 points, but strong defending by James, Dave and Cian Moloney kept our defence tight. EoinSheehan made 2 great saves to keep Claughan out.Darren scored another point to settle us back down before Claughan once again broke forward and scored a long range free. For the last 10 minutes defences were on top from both sides with every ball been keenly contested.With 2 minutes left Darren sent in a long free which went all the way to the net after a cruel bounce in front of their keeper.Pallaskenry played out the rest of the game on the front foot to end up deserved winners 2-7 to 0-6.
