Devastating Comeback by Junior Hurlers

Pallaskenry 4-7 Mungret 0-12

In the second match of the Junior A City League Pallaskenry won with what can only be described as an inspired performance from every man on the field. It took Pallas 7 minutes to get on the score sheet with a well taken point from Ollie O’Regan. However, the score read 3 points to 1 at this stage. Pallaskenry struggled in the 1st half with only 4 points from Ollie, Emmett O’Brien, Simon Guerin and Pauric Nash. Despite valiant efforts by the forwards they were unable to convert a lot of possession on the full forward line and went into the break 6 points down.

The second half proved to be a different story. Pallas came out firing all guns and some more. In the 4th minute a well taken shot from the half way line from Padraig O’Connell bounced on the goal line and despite the best efforts of the Mungret goal keeper the ball ended up in the back of the net. And some began the comeback. Another goal 2 minutes later from Emmett O’Brien brought us right back in the game. A few minutes later Darren Walsh converted a great point from well out the field and we were ahead with Mungret only managing 1 point in the first 20 minutes. Great defending from Adrian Guerin, Brendan O’Shea and Ray Nash meant that Mungret were unable to get possession.

In the 18th minute Ollie O’Regan received a great pass from midfield and duly fired the ball into the back of the net in what can only be described as a very cheeky goal. The goal fest was not to end there and in the 22nd minute Ciaran Ryan put another in the net. Mungret managed another point in the 30th minute and Darren Walsh finished our scoring with a point in the last minute of extra time

Fantastic performances from every man on the team and the 3 subs used, Jerome O’Connell, Kenny Rodgers and David Keating added to a very exciting game and a great win from Pallas
