Kelly hat-trick does the job
U14 ACFL
Pallaskenry 3 - 4, Patrickswell 3 - 1.
We travelled to Patrickswell this Sunday evening for our first football match of the season.
Minus a number of players we still lined out with a fairly strong team.
Patrickswell were quick to settle with a point from play.
Pallas were making strong runs up field but were unable to finish.
Alan Ryan, Darren O'Connell and Ryan were to the fore early in the match.
A long free kick from Patrickswell bounced over everyone and into the net.
Darren pulled a point back from a free. Pallaskenry were piling on the pressure.
Ryan went on one of his mazy solo's and sent in a long ball which nestled in the corner of the net.
Cian Lynch Patrickswell centre half was to the fore for the Well, driving his team forward at every opportunity.
It was nip and tuck from there to just before half time when a harmless shot from Patrickswell corner forward bounced out of the keepers hand and over the line.
Half Time Pallaskenry 1 - 1, Partickswell 2 - 1.
In the second half we made some switches with Sean Holland moving to centre forward to try and prevent Lynch coming forward as much. Darren O'Connell came out to midfield. These seem to work as we created far more scoring chances and had the 'Well pinned back in their own half. Ryan Kelly was getting much more of the ball and causing all sorts of problems up front. Another mazy solo resulted in a cracking goal from the edge of the penalty area. He followed this up with 2 more excellent points. Patrickswell were still making breaks up field and two excellent saves from Eoin Sheehan kept them scoreless. Cameron Fu Lynch was cleaning up a lot of ball as well. Ryan score his third goal with 10 minutes left, another solo and cracking shot to the net. Not happy with a hat trick of goals he added his third point with 5 minutes to go leaving us 6 points to the good.
Good defending from Gary Maher, Jason Barry & James Fitz kept the Well at bay. In the final minute they broke forward and won a penalty with Cian Lynch converting to leave the final score 3 - 4 to 3 - 1.
Best for Pallaskenry were Alan Ryan, Sean Holland, Darren O'Connell & chief scorer Ryan Kelly.
