U16 Hurlers Reach Break UnBeaten

U16 Hurling C'Ship Division 2
Killulta Gaels 3-12 Pallasgreen 1-1

Killulta welcomed Pallasgreen to Kildimo on Monday evening last for our final hurling match before the exam break. Killulta started well and had 2 points in as many minutes from Mark Daly and Darragh Walsh. On Pallasgreens first attack however, our defence were caught cold and the ball was driven into the goal having been loose around the square for far too long.

Killulta then regained control and added points from Ciarán O'Brien, Martin Nunan from
a free, Martin again from play and a couple from Jack O'Keeffe shortly
before halftime to lead 0-7 to 1-0. Killulta had been playing well in
the first half but were finding it very difficult to notch up the
scores. Indeed, had Pallasgreen made hay from the frees that we had
conceded then it could have been a very tight affair at halftime.

A couple of substitutions were made at half-time and one of them - Tom
O'Shea put the sliotar over the bar shortly after the resumption. Tony
McCarthy immediately added a point but then we had to wait 10 minutes
for the next score which was a pointed free from Martin. Pallasgreen
then got their second score of the match but for the final quarter of
the game Killulta really came into their stride.

All positions of the field were now playing very well, Kevin O'Connell was clearing anything
that came his way including a superb goal-line catch under pressure,
Paul Clarke did everything that was asked of him on the day, Dean
Corrigan and Tony McCarthy were also proving very difficult to get past
in the half-back line. Darragh Walsh and Ciarán O'Brien were dominant in
the middle of the field. Tom was next to add a point, followed in quick
succession by a goal from our roving midfielder Ciarán O'Brien who
materialised in the corner forward position, Eoin Cuddihy with a goal, a
Jack O'Keeffe point and finally a goal from Tom O'Shea.
Final score: Killulta Gaels 3-12 Pallasgreen 1-1.

Best wishes to all those who are sitting exams next month.
